The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

Your work will play a vital role in the recovery journey, both during inpatient admissions and in planning for discharge, by helping individuals reconnect with meaningful activities and community life.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Recognised Health Science or Applied Science Bachelor's Degree in Leisure, Recreation or Diversional Therapy recognised by Australian Recreational Therapy Association with eligibility for full membership with Australian Recreational Therapy Association.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing diversional therapy interventions with mental health consumers in a group and 1:1 format.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated evidence of knowledge and participation in the implementation of quality improvement and evidence-based practice processes.
  • Understanding of and commitment to trauma informed and recovery-oriented services and consumer involvement in design, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in a range of programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education.
  • Current Drivers License and willingness to use same for work purposes.
