Find purpose and impact

As the Resources Librarian at Macquarie Regional Library you will make an impact by playing a vital role in ensuring access to library resources by undertaking acquisitions, cataloguing, and classification processes. You will support the day-to-day operations of the Resources and Technology Section, maintain the integrity of the library's bibliographic database, and contribute to the development and upkeep of both physical and digital collections. The role also involves liaising with suppliers, managing serial subscriptions, and participating in team collaboration to enhance library services.

You'll make an impact by:

  • Managing acquisitions and cataloguing of library resources using national and international standards.
  • Maintaining and developing library collections, including digital and specialist collections, and monitoring budget expenditure.
  • Overseeing serial subscriptions, including ordering, invoicing, and maintaining bibliographic records.
    Ensuring database accuracy by maintaining authority control and contributing original and copy cataloguing records.

What you'll bring

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Degree in Library and Information Science with eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
  • Experience with contemporary Library Management Systems including acquisition and cataloguing systems and processes.
  • Experience in original and copy cataloguing of library resources using relevant cataloguing tools and standards
  • Relevant experience in library work and sound knowledge of public library practices.
  • Experienced in the use of a variety of information database systems.
  • Experience using Microsoft applications, and Internet resources.
  • Demonstrated well developed oral, written and interpersonal communications skills, with high level accuracy and attention to detail.

We would also love you to have:

  • Experience in Serials management / cataloguing on an automated library system.
    Experience with the Spydus Library Management System.
