We specialise in Electrical, Gas & Smoke Alarm Safety Checks and Rental Minimum Standards inspections for residential properties across Victoria. Locally owned and run, Syncom is known for supporting staff, providing clear processes, and building careers in a respectful, team-focused environment.

The role of a Minimum Standards and Smoke Alarm Technician involves inspecting residential rental properties to ensure they meet Victoria's current Rental Minimum Standards and Smoke Alarm Check requirements under the Residential Tenancies Regulations 2021.

Technicians assess key areas such as lighting, ventilation, moisture & dampness, structural soundness, heating etc., and testing, maintaining, and replacing smoke alarms as required. The position requires strong attention to detail, confidence entering occupied homes, and clear communication with renters and property managers.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Conduct Minimum Standards Checks and Smoke Alarm Safety Checks at rental properties throughout Victoria (opportunity for travel)
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks (such as replacing smoke alarms, light globes, batteries, installing cord blind tensioners, installing water restrictors to showerheads)
  • Assist tradespeople on site as a Trade Assistant when required
  • Engage with renters on site - including door-knocking and arranging access for scheduled checks
  • Complete reports and photo records using our in-field mobile app
  • Work both independently and as part of a wider service team

What We're Looking For

  • Reliable, punctual, and great with communication
  • Some trade experience working domestically as a handyman, labourer etc. desireable but not essential
  • Comfortable using mobile apps for job reporting
  • Confident interacting with renters and property managers
  • Willing to travel across Melbourne (vehicle provided for field work)
  • Current Victorian Driver's Licence
  • White Card (preferred)
  • Police Check & Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
