Chinese Teacher
The Chinese (Mandarin) Teacher brings language and culture to life — inspiring students to explore the world through communication, connection, and curiosity. You will help each boy discover not just how to speak Mandarin, but how to appreciate the richness of Chinese culture and its place in the global community.
Working within the Languages Faculty and under the guidance of the Head of Languages, you will design and deliver engaging and authentic Chinese language programs in alignment with the NSW curriculum. You will foster a classroom environment that encourages risk-taking, celebrates progress, and promotes intercultural understanding.
As a part-time (0.5 FTE) member of The Scots College Senior School, you will contribute to a culture of learning, respect, and Christian character that defines a Scots education.
Who are you?
You are a passionate and skilled language educator who values the power of language learning to broaden horizons and build empathy.
You hold recognised teaching qualifications and registration with NESA, with the ability to teach Chinese (Mandarin) at secondary level.
You bring creativity and enthusiasm to your lessons, using a range of teaching methods — from immersive speaking activities to technology-enhanced learning — to make language study dynamic and meaningful.
You understand the diverse learning needs of boys and design differentiated lessons that promote both challenge and success.
You communicate clearly and professionally with students, colleagues, and families, building positive relationships founded on respect and care.
You are reflective and proactive in your professional growth, continually refining your practice and contributing to the collaborative work of the Languages Faculty.
You bring an authentic Christian faith that shapes your approach to teaching, relationships, and service.
Where do you fit in?
You are energised by the opportunity to serve within a Christian, Presbyterian GPS school committed to excellence in boys' education.
You thrive in a team-oriented environment where innovation, collaboration, and care are central to success.
You are motivated by purpose — helping students gain not only linguistic skill, but cultural awareness, global perspective, and a sense of belonging in a connected world.
You see your role as both educator and mentor — guiding boys to approach language learning with curiosity, courage, and confidence.
How do you serve others?
You design and deliver engaging, well-sequenced Mandarin lessons that foster language proficiency and cultural appreciation.
You use assessment feedback and reflective practice to continually enhance your teaching and support each student's growth.
You provide timely communication and meaningful feedback to students and parents, building strong partnerships in learning.
You contribute to the broader life of the College through pastoral care and co-curricular engagement, modelling Christian character, respect, and global-mindedness.
You support a collegial, caring environment within the Languages Faculty and the wider school community.
What do we offer?
An opportunity to be part of a team committed to nurturing fine young men of faith, character, and purpose.
A dynamic and supportive teaching environment where languages and cultures are celebrated as pathways to understanding and connection.
Ongoing professional development and mentoring to enhance your teaching and leadership in languages education.
