About the opportunity

The Marketing and Communications Advisor is part of the Business Communications team, which delivers and supports the marketing communications needs of WorkSafe's business units. This position works closely with the Manager, Business Communications and Senior Advisors to deliver WorkSafe's external communications programs and campaigns.

The purpose of our marketing and communication activities is to increase community awareness of health and safety, encourage behaviour change of employers and workers and leverage the influence of our partners, clients and the community, using social marketing principles and a range of marketing and communications techniques. Our primary service lines are marketing campaigns, tactical communications advice and initiatives, sponsorships, digital marketing through social media and electronic digital marketing and product development and maintenance of WorkSafe's digital platforms.

Key accountabilities for this role include:

  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate multi-channel communications plans to support business initiatives, projects and tactical campaigns, ensuring these are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work with the Senior Advisors and Manager, Communications Business Partnering to deliver communications activities and marketing campaigns.
  • Clearly prioritise and schedule the delivery of marketing communication services for internal clients.
  • Work collaboratively and in partnership across the External Affairs division and WorkSafe business units to provide specialised services that ensure marketing communication initiatives meet stakeholder needs, our marketing plans and WorkSafe's strategic priorities.
  • Support the delivery of business events, forums and change initiatives.
  • Work with the Research team to apply market research methods to understand emerging trends and technologies and use insight to optimise projects.
  • Manage external suppliers such as media buyers, creative agencies, graphic designers, print and direct marketing agencies to deliver communications activities.
  • Monitor and report expenditure for marketing communication activities.
  • Support the broader Communications Business Partnering team by contributing ideas, solutions and approaches to improve communications systems and tools.

About you

To be considered or this exciting position, you will demonstrate the following:

  • Experience developing and evaluating multi-channel marketing, communications and public relations campaigns to meet defined objectives.
  • Experience in a politically sensitive, stakeholder focused and issues-rich environment.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate issues or messages clearly, simply and effectively to a range of audiences.
  • Experience using digital channels, including social media and email marketing to meet goals.
  • Strong focus on teamwork and collaboration, with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative, negotiate and influence.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, and an ability to manage work

Qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualification/s in public relations, communications or marketing (or related field) is highly desirable
