Sunshine Coast, Australia The Energy Community and Supports Full time $60,000 - $80,000 per year

We are seeking dedicated, confident, and resilient female Youth Support Staff with proven experience in supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. This role requires the ability to work with multiple clients who may present with extreme behaviours, Complex PTSD (CPTSD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Applicants must have strong mental health knowledge, be calm under pressure, and demonstrate the ability to manage verbal aggression.

Maintaining therapeutic boundaries and a resilient, trauma-informed approach are essential to providing safe and effective support.

Setting:

  • In-home support & community access.

Requirements:

  • Minimum cert 3 in individual support, adjacent relevant qualifications or are currently enrolled in relevant courses - university students in health care degrees (OT, Social work, psychology) are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Blue Card & Yellow Card
  • Reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
  • First Aid
  • Understanding of complex behaviours and Mental health
  • Experience with escalations and therapeutic models of care.

Highly Desired:

  • Experience in a residential setting is highly desired.
  • TCI or Mabo Training
  • Must have a strong mental health background and be resilient.
  • Worker must be confident in maintaining professional boundaries and supporting emotional regulation.
  • Experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

RosterThe roster will be set on a recurring weekly basis, with the aim of creating a balanced team where no staff member is rostered for more than 2–3 shifts per week in order to support consistency and prevent burnout.

We are particularly seeking staff with availability on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and/or Saturdays. Shifts typically range from 3 to 5 hours, with occasional extended shifts as required, totalling approximately 10–15 hours per week.

Staff support:

  • Staff work closely with management to identify areas of intervention
  • Staff have regular contact with management to troubleshoot areas of concern, skill build and receive and take on feedback
  • Staff have access to confidential supervisions to vent whenever required.
  • Monthly staff meetings and team building
  • Training in escalations and incident report writing
  • Mentorship
  • Extensive information available to read prior to buddy shift to get up to speed on client behaviors, safety planning, shift tips, rules and routines
  • Active watch for burnout
  • work with management to come up with roster that works for you

Essential Requirements:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or Blue/Yellow Cards)
  • Cert III in Individual Support (or relevant qualification – enrolled students welcome)
  • Comprehensive car insurance and a reliable vehicle
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Passion for supporting diverse needs and improving lives
