The Blackmores AI Health Lab is a greenfield initiative aimed at leveraging advanced AI to drive innovation, personalize health experiences, and support evidence-based decision-making. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and optimizing intelligent prediction systems and generative and agentic AI solutions that can autonomously reason, act, and adapt. 

The AI & Data Science Specialist will collaborate across departments including IT, data science, and business stakeholders to build robust, scalable AI solutions. Curious and technically adept, you will ask the "Why" behind user needs to ensure no predictive signal is overlooked. Users will outline the outcomes they seek, and this role will be responsible to design and implement the models and generative and agentic systems required to deliver those outcomes. 

This role reports to our AI Principal Lead and will be expected to work out from our Surry Hills three times and two days from home weekly. There will be occasional travel to our Warriewood Campus for meetings.   

Responsibilities include: 

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the design and development of scalable, secure AI workflows and autonomous agents.

  • Model Governance: Ensure model accuracy, fairness, explainability, and compliance.

  • Collaboration: Partner with data scientists, product managers, and domain experts to deploy and refine predictive, generative and agentic AI features.

  • Solution Orientation: Apply MVP and prototyping approaches to rapidly test predictive hypotheses and agentic workflows.

  • Mentorship: Guide junior AI engineers and cross-functional teams in best practices for model development and deployment.

Who are you? 

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree (Master's or PhD) will be an added advantage.

  • Proven experience in designing scalable AI workflows and autonomous agents using GCP Vertex AI, Python, Snowflake, and CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Enterprise.

  • AI & ML Expertise

  • At least more than 3 to 5 years in AI engineering or applied machine learning, with hands-on experience in predictive modeling, generative AI, agentic systems, and ML Ops workflows.

  • Strong understanding of model accuracy, fairness, explainability, and compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a solution-oriented mindset with strong communication and teamwork capabilities.
