
Clinician (Social Worker/Occupational Therapist/Psychologist/Counsellor)

ACT Corrective Services is looking for a suitably qualified person with demonstrated clinical experience, personal integrity, self-confidence and exceptional communication skills, to become a Supports and Interventions Clinician (HP2) within Offender Reintegration.
Through sound knowledge of trauma informed practice and the principles of best practice intervention, the occupant of this role will support the delivery of 1:1 therapeutic interventions for detainees with identified needs in the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC) and support of the detainee Peer Mentor program and provide critical incident responses as required.
In addition, you will support the planning, development and evaluation of client programs and services, including policy and procedures, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. This includes supporting research and promoting current evidence based practice in the areas relevant to clinical expertise – particularly mental health and offence specific interventions.
An interest in rehabilitation, community connections, reintegration and the ability to operate effectively in a team, as well as having the capacity to deal with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds in a correctional environment, is essential.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Occupational Therapist – Mandatory:
- General registration with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency [AHPRA])
Social Worker - Mandatory:
- Degree in Social Work
- Professional membership or demonstrated eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
All disciplines:
- Relevant qualification/s in Social Work/ Occupational Therapy/ Psychology/ Counselling are essential.
- Professional membership or demonstrated eligibility for professional membership of a relevant governing professional body is required.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 12 months paid work employment, post qualification, in a relevant role.
- Experience in individual Social Work/ Occupational Therapy/ Psychology/ Counselling roles with a wide range of clients with identified needs is desirable.
- Experience within a forensic/ custodial setting is desirable.
- This position requires a Police Record Check.
- A current driver's license is essential.
- This position requires a pre-employment medical.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of 12 months with the possibility of permanency.
An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
