We believe in the power of people and technology to shape a better world. As a Senior Principal Engineer – Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) & Electrical, you'll be at the helm of transformative transport projects that integrate cutting-edge technology with real-world infrastructure.

Our industry-leading ITS team is recognised nationally for its innovation, technical depth, and client impact. We work with major engineering clients including the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Transport for NSW, Department of Transport and Planning (Vic), Main Roads WA, Transurban, major construction contractors and like-minded consultancies.

What You'll Be Doing

In this senior leadership role, you'll bring your deep technical expertise and strategic mindset to:

  • Lead the design and delivery of ITS, lighting, signals, and roadside infrastructure across major transport projects.
  • Oversee electrical and communications engineering activities, ensuring quality, compliance, and innovation.
  • Drive strategic pursuits, partnerships, and business development aligned with national infrastructure priorities.
  • Mentor and grow a high-performing technical team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Engage with industry bodies such as ITS Australia and Engineers Australia to elevate WSP's profile and contribute to sector advancements.
  • Influence business strategy and contribute to tactical planning for growth, capability development, and market leadership.

What You'll Bring

If you're a technical expert, and passionate leader ready to take the next step in your career, we want to hear from you. We're looking for:

  • At least 20+ years of experience in electrical and ITS engineering, with a strong consulting background.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Electrical preferred).
  • Chartered accreditation (EA / RPEQ).
  • Proven leadership in complex infrastructure projects, including smart motorways, enforcement systems, and road lighting.
  • Deep knowledge of Australian ITS and electrical standards and design tools (AutoCAD, PowerCAD, AGI32, etc.).
  • A track record of building strong client relationships, managing risk, and delivering high-impact outcomes.
  • A collaborative mindset, strategic thinking, and a passion for mentoring and technical excellence.
