Your opportunity:
The Critical Situation Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the resilience and continuity of telecommunications services during high-impact events. This role is responsible for preparing for and managing critical incidents—including extreme weather events, infrastructure failures, and major service disruptions—by coordinating cross-functional teams, running incident management bridges, and driving post-incident reviews and process improvements.
You'll make impact in the following areas:
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive incident response plans for extreme weather events and other critical scenarios.
- Conducting risk assessments and scenario planning to identify vulnerabilities in network infrastructure and operations.
- Collaborating with engineering, field operations, IT/Network Operations, and business continuity teams to ensure readiness.
- Leading simulation exercises and tabletop drills to test response capabilities.
- Acting as the Incident Commander during major events, leading management bridges and coordinating real-time response efforts.
- Monitoring incident progression, escalating as needed, and aligning response with regulatory and customer obligations.
- Maintaining detailed incident logs and documenting actions taken accurately.
- Coordinating with network operations, field services, IT, customer service, and external vendors to ensure unified response.
- Serving as the central point of contact for all teams during critical incidents.
- Facilitating decision-making under pressure and aligning resource allocation with incident priorities.
- Producing real-time incident reports, executive summaries, and post-incident reviews.
- Maintaining and updating process documentation, playbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Leading lessons learned sessions post-incident to identify root causes and improvement opportunities.
- Driving implementation of corrective actions and process enhancements.
What you'll bring:
As the successful candidate, you will have a strong background in Technology Leadership with demonstrated 10+ years' experience working in a Telecommunications environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills involving managing stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent consultation skills interfacing with Technical and Business stakeholders, and leaders across the Technology organisation.
- 10+ experience managing a combination of Technology functions i.e., IT, Infrastructure, and Networks in a large Enterprise organisation, preferably in a Telecommunications environment.
- Experience in managing Critical Incidents.
- Able to smoothly navigate in a matrixed organisation, seeking consensus and buy-in, and holding others accountable.
- Excellent time and expectations management.
- Excellent in identifying and managing Technology risks impacting Business outcomes,
- Ability to work in a 24/7 on-call during high-risk periods
