About the opportunity

We are excited to offer a 12-month secondment as Allied Health Educator within the Mental Health Learning and Development Team for the 2025 Early Career Program. This role provides a valuable chance to support early career Social Work clinicians by offering direct clinical support, leadership, and supervision across inpatient, residential, and community settings. You will role model best practice, facilitate clinical supervision and reflective sessions, and assist staff with developing learning goals and performance reviews. The position emphasizes promoting recovery-oriented, person-centered, and evidence-based care while contributing to the successful implementation of key workforce initiatives driven by the Mental Health Royal Commission.

As an allied health social work educator, you bring a strong commitment to supporting and empowering social work clinicians,

You are dedicated to fostering a learning environment that is both compassionate and recovery-focused, prioritizing consumer-centered care at every opportunity. Your passion for education and mentorship is matched by your ability to model best practices, encourage reflective learning, and promote evidence-based approaches that enhance clinical skills and confidence in early career staff.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • A genuine passion for working with individuals experiencing mental ill health and their families, combined with a strong interest in teaching and supporting fellow allied health staff.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership skills with the ability to provide direct support, supervision, and mentorship that promotes the professional growth of staff.
  • Proven experience in role modelling best practice through high-quality clinical care
  • Experience in facilitating clinical supervision, reflective practice, and competency assessments, while guiding staff development through personalized learning objectives.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • Required: graduate or post-graduate degree in social work or equivalent
  • Eligibility for membership of the Australia Association of Social Workers
  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
