Role: Depot Manager

Location:Ballina, NSW

Reporting directly to the QLD & NT Regional Manager, you will be accountable for the smooth-running, leadership and cost management of our Ballina operations. You will be a pro-active leader in your commitment to the role, lead by example in your actions and lead a team of dedicated employees.

Position responsibilities includes but is not limited to:

  • Ensure all operations comply with company policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
  • Promote and maintain safety for staff, the community, and the environment
  • Oversee all aspects of depot operations including freight distribution, bookings, timelines, freight security, handling, and special instructions
  • Manage daily and weekly labour requirements to maximise operational efficiency
  • Ensure vehicles and equipment are properly maintained, serviced, and records kept
  • Work closely with HR to address employee matters, including performance management and disciplinary procedures
  • Provide strategic direction to improve delivery efficiency and customer satisfaction

Skills, attributes and qualifications required to be considered and or successful:

  • A valid manual MR Truck Licence (mandatory)
  • Experience in transport and logistics (preferred, not essential – training provided)
  • Prior experience in a similar leadership/management role (advantageous)
  • Strong understanding of business and financial management principles
  • Proven experience in labour costing and operational budgeting
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff performance and foster a positive workplace culture
  • Solid understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations
  • Knowledge of warehousing and distribution best practices
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • A hands-on leadership style with energy, resilience, and a solutions-focused mindset
  • Ability to adapt to evolving business needs and industry trends
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
