Our Markets Summer Intern Program is an 8-week paid program designed specifically to back you in this early stage of your career.

You'll be immersed in future skills and employability development workshops combined with an engaging placement in a business stream of your choice. You'll discover what it's like to learn and work at one of Australia's largest and most successful financial institutions.

We're seeking motivated and innovative individuals to join us on the 2025 – 2026 Summer Intern Program. You'll not only gain insights into the banking and finance industry, but you'll also learn more about your own working style with a personal action plan. You'll be provided networking opportunities and career coaching to determine what you want from your career and how to achieve it.

Our Markets Summer Internship puts you on the front line of global finance. You'll gain hands-on experience working with a dynamic team that connects local and international clients to liquid markets across fixed income, currencies, commodities, credit derivatives, and money markets.

We operate at the heart of financial markets, facilitating trades between banks, superannuation funds, corporates, and global institutions. Whether it's a multinational building a hedging strategy, a fund manager optimising yield or helping small businesses understand the world of FX and rates, you'll be part of the engine that makes it happen.

What you'll do:

• Accelerate your skills in trading, sales, economic and quantitative research
• Solve real-world quantitative problems with tools like Excel, Python, VBA, and Java.
• Develop your market insight and analytical edge through exposure to live markets
• Grow your communication and relationship-building skills with clients and internal teams
• Receive personalised coaching and a tailored development plan aligned to your career goals
• Build employability skills to compliment your studies and current experience
• Attend structured learning and development workshops
• Be provided with daily leadership and exposure to projects and operational work

This program stream is held in Sydney.

Key Dates

Our Summer Intern Program takes place from 24 November 2025 – 30 January 2026, and during this period you'll need to be available for full time employment. However, this period does include two weeks of unpaid leave during NAB's Christmas shutdown period which begins on Monday 22 December up until Friday 2 January 2026.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply, you must have:

• Australian or New Zealand citizenship or be an Australian Permanent Resident at the time of applying.
• You'll need to be in your second last year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree and due to complete your degree by December 2026.
