Position details

Salary range $153,214 - $175,373 plus statutory super.

About the role

This role will require you to:

  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and budgets for the Audit, Risk Management and Finance Committee, and VIT Council.
  • Provide financial advice to the Executive team and VIT Council to inform strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across systems and processes.
  • Manage internal and external audit relationships to ensure compliance, transparency and to mitigate financial risk.
  • Provide authoritative advice to portfolio Ministers and senior stakeholders on the financial risks and emerging issues impacting VIT or the State's financial position.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to drive strategic financial planning, operational efficiency, and financial literacy across the organisation.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Financial Services team, including the payroll function.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and technology partners to ensure financial platforms are scalable, secure, and aligned with VIT's regulatory and operational needs.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Demonstrated strategic focus and commercial acumen, with the ability to align financial management to meet organisational objectives and strategic goals.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder engagement skills with proven ability to influence and support strategic decision making
  • Extensive experience in financial management, including budgeting, data-analysis, reporting, compliance and audit coordination within a complex environment.
  • Proven people leadership and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building high-performing, collaborative teams and fostering a culture of service excellence
  • Demonstrated expertise in payroll governance and compliance, with strong knowledge of statutory obligations and enterprise agreement frameworks.
  • CA/CPA or equivalent qualification with a commitment to best practice, integrity and continuous professional development (mandatory).
