Join Our Dynamic Team at Gladesville Veterinary Hospital as a Co-Lead Vet
Are you a passionate and enthusiastic veterinary professional ready to embark on an exciting career journey? Look no further Gladesville Veterinary Hospital (GVH), a renowned veterinary clinic, is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Co-Lead Veterinarian to join our thriving team.
About Us:
Our Hospital is a well-established, purpose-built clinic in Sydney's Lower North Shore. Established in 1959, the GVH team has always prided itself on offering a high standard of medical, surgical and specialty nuclear scintigraphy services.
We are a very busy hospital with a large, loyal and active client base. Every day brings a variety of cases and challenges, which makes it an incredibly rewarding role for a Veterinarian who thrives on being busy and staying engaged. We are hoping there is a skilled veterinarian out there with leadership experience or potential who is keen to join our team. There is already a lead vet in place whose clinical interests lie in nuclear scintigraphy, dentistry and emergency medicine. The Co-Lead will work alongside the current lead vet to collaborate on decisions and share the leadership load. A clinical interest (or willingness to train) in nuclear scintigraphy, orthopaedic surgery or diagnostic imaging would be a wonderful bonus, but not a necessity.
We're a large, collaborative team of 40 team members including 10 Veterinarians with diverse interests in dermatology, trigger point therapy, soft tissue surgery and dentistry. We pride ourselves on a diverse, supportive workplace with a strong focus on patient care and continuous learning.
We go beyond the typical GP veterinary practice by offering advanced services such as:
- Complex dental procedures
- Nuclear medicine treatments (training available)
- Trigger point therapy
- Comprehensive imaging (ultrasound, x-ray)
- Wildlife care and hospitalisation
- Boarding services
- Puppy Preschool
Our facility includes:
- 6 consult rooms, 2 dedicated surgical suites, In-house pathology (Idexx)
- Nuclear medicine suite with gamma camera
- Other Diagnostic imaging tools- new ultrasound machine, X-ray facilities, Dental X-ray facilities
- Tech tools- Ezyvet, Smartflow, Cubex, RocketPacs
As the Co- Lead Veterinarian, you will:
- Provide primary clinical care for both medical and surgical cases.
- Oversee training and mentorship of the primary care veterinarian team.
- Serve as the line manager for our GP veterinarians, offering guidance and support.
- Assist in performance reviews and career development plans for the GP veterinarians.
- Contribute to the training of support staff when needed.
- Ensure standards of care within the hospital align with best practices, using Vet Partners Veterinary Advisory and Nursing Advisory committee guidelines as well as other expert guidelines to shape the hospital's standards.
- Be an integral part of the hospital's leadership team, drive the vision of the hospital and help align clinical priorities with business needs.
What we can offer you:
- The opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art GP hospital in a prime Sydney location. Gladesville is a 20-minute drive or bus-ride to Sydney City and 30 minutes to the nearest beach. It's a leafy part of Sydney with excellent schools, restaurants and kids play facilities.
- The opportunity to develop or fine-tune leadership skills within a supportive team. The existing clinic leadership team incudes the co-lead veterinarian, practice manager and 2 head nurses. GVH is a Vet Partners hospital and there is the ability to draw on support from regional managers and support office teams as needed.
- Access to our 'Drive' leadership course as well as monthly meetings and regular touchpoints with the regional operations manager and regional veterinary manager.
- A competitive salary package which includes base salary, superannuation, internal CPD options, external CPD allowance and corporate perks such as Fitness Passport and access to store discounts.
- As part of Vet Partners, you will have access to a wider network of clinics including specialist hospitals, to aid in your professional development.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years' clinical experience in a small animal practice.
- BVSc, DVM or equivalent and registration to practice in NSW, Australia.
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to prioritise in a busy hospital environment.
- Willingness to learn new techniques (e.g. nuclear medicine).
- Comfortable supervising and teaching junior vets.
- Prior formal or informal experience in people leadership, change management and development of systems and processes.
- Willingness to develop leadership skills such as people leadership, business acumen and coaching of team members.
