About the role
We are seeking an experienced Pre Admission / Admissions + PACU Nurse to join our team at South Brisbane Day Hospital in Woolloongabba, Queensland. This full-time role (open to Part-Time applicants) will see you working as part of a dedicated nursing team, providing high-quality patient care throughout the pre-admission, admission and post-anaesthesia care unit (PACU) stages.
What you'll be doing
- Conducting pre-admission assessments and consultations with patients
- Admitting patients and ensuring all necessary paperwork and information is complete
- Monitoring patients in the PACU, providing post-operative care and support
- Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation
- Collaborating with the surgical team to ensure the highest standards of patient care
- Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures and clinical guidelines
What we're looking for
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Significant experience in a pre-admission, admissions or PACU nursing role, ideally within an ophthalmology or surgical setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with patients, families and the broader medical team
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient care and safety
