About Us

Shooting Stars is a school-based education engagement program for Aboriginal girls and young women. Founded in 2015, Shooting Stars is the primary initiative of Glass Jar Australia (GJA), a not-for-profit organisation that comes under the wider umbrella of Netball WA (NWA).

Now based within 22 schools across Western Australia and South Australia, Shooting Stars reaches over 1,200 girls and young women, building confidence, cultural identity, and positive connections through engagement activities, health and wellbeing sessions and enrichment programs. The team of staff, most of whom are Aboriginal women, walk alongside the Shooting Stars participants throughout their schooling journeys, while offering support, advocacy, and guidance to ensure they are empowered to make informed decisions and drive their own futures.

About the Role

Reporting to the Research Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring our operations meet compliance standards and support the development of safeguarding policies, risk management strategies, and quality assurance processes. You'll work closely with internal teams, schools, and external stakeholders to uphold our commitment to safe and empowering environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain Excursion Management Plans and compliance registers
  • Develop and implement Child Safeguarding policies
  • Manage the ChildSafe inbox and clearance databases
  • Support induction processes and staff training
  • Lead risk management and incident reporting across programs
  • Oversee asset management
  • Contribute to WHS compliance and committee input
  • Represent Shooting Stars at events and share our story

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is excited to learn, grow, and make a difference
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is experienced in compliance, policy development, and risk management
  • Understands trauma-informed approaches and youth engagement
  • Can work independently and collaboratively
  • Is flexible with travel and work hours

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in quality management and compliance
  • Strong planning, initiative, and self-management
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting
  • Current WA Driver's Licence
  • Working with Children Check & National Police Clearance

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field
  • Experience in youth, education, or community programs
  • Project management experience
