As an Analyst Developer at a well reputed legal firm, you'll play a hands-on role in keeping the firm's key systems running, developing practical tools and supporting all staff. From monitoring and troubleshooting Aderant Expert, to building internal apps and automations, running SQL queries and partnering with the BI Developer on reports, you'll help drive smarter, more efficient ways of working across the firm.
What You'll Do
As a Software Support Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the technological backbone of this respected law firm.
- Oversee the management and optimisation of the Practice Management System (Aderant Expert), ensuring seamless operation for all users across the firm.
- Administer the Document Management System (iManage), providing reliable support and troubleshooting to maintain efficient document work flows.
- Develop, enhance and support SSRS and Power BI reports to deliver actionable insights for business decision-making.
- Design, build and maintain bespoke applications and tools tailored to the evolving needs of legal professionals within the organisation.
- Implement automated document templates that streamline processes and improve accuracy across various practice areas.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in IT and other departments to identify opportunities for process improvement through technology solutions.
- Provide expert technical support for database administration tasks involving SQL Server, including stored procedures and views.
- Contribute to work flow development projects that enhance operational efficiency throughout the firm's systems landscape.
- Assist with coding tasks using .NET (preferably C#), VB Scripting, HTML and other relevant technologies as required by ongoing projects.
- Participate in knowledge sharing sessions and team meetings to foster continuous improvement within the technology function.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level application support to staff.
What You Bring
In this Software Support Engineer position, your background in supporting complex business systems within professional services will be invaluable. You will bring not only technical acumen but also excellent interpersonal skills that allow you to communicate clearly with both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ideally possess between 4 to 7 year's experience in a similar software support or analyst/developer role within professional or legal services environments.
- Demonstrate highly developed written and verbal communication skills that enable effective collaboration with colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
- Showcase strong organisational abilities with proven capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Exhibit flexibility under pressure by adapting quickly to changing priorities while maintaining meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of your work.
- Display advanced technical proficiency in .NET development (preferably C#) alongside solid experience with SQL Server database administration including stored procedures and views.
- Utilise practical knowledge of VB Scripting and HTML for application development or maintenance tasks as required by project demands.
- Apply experience in document assembly coding to automate template creation processes efficiently across different practice groups.
- Leverage familiarity with work flow development tools such as SSRS or Power BI to design data-driven solutions that inform strategic decisions (desirable).
- Bring exposure to Azure DevOps for streamlined deployment pipelines or SharePoint/Exchange Online for enhanced collaboration capabilities (desirable).
