We're looking for two experienced individuals—a Restaurant Manager and Bar Supervisor —to join us in launching an exciting new venue in Glen Iris, positions commence in mid October.

ABOUT THE VENUE

In November 2025, the esteemed restaurateurs behind Marameo and Il Bacaro will open Bar Sophia – a relaxed neighbourhood bar and dining spot inspired by the new-wave wine bars of Athens – nestled in the leafy surrounds of Central Park Village.

Restaurant Manager

  • Oversee daily venue operations, including open/close procedures and service standards.
  • Lead team briefings and ensure compliance with health, safety, and certifications.
  • Manage inventory, supplier relationships, and monitor F&B costs.
  • Drive sales through upselling initiatives and staff training.
  • Create and manage rosters to balance service and labour efficiency.
  • Handle daily reporting on sales, service quality, and staffing.
  • Recruit, train, and manage staff performance through regular feedback.
  • Uphold service standards and company policies.
  • Develop a professional, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.

Bar Supervisor

  • Oversee daily bar operations, ensuring smooth service and compliance with licensing  and RSA requirements.
  • Manage inventory, stock levels, and ordering to minimize waste.
  • Collaborate with management on the wine and cocktail list.
  • Lead and motivate bar staff to deliver excellent service and foster a positive team environment.
  • Address customer issues promptly and professionally.
  • Support overall operations and service as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends to maintain a competitive bar offering.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Hospitality is at your core – you're approachable, welcoming and positive
  • A strong understanding of beverage and bar processes
  • Ability to enhance  customer service by managing guest interactions and resolving issues promptly
  • Demonstrated supervisory/management experience: shift management, bar operations, POS, RSA management
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills; the tools to give feedback, support, direction and nurture our staff
  • Solid wine and cocktail knowledge
  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety standards
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
  • Manage guest relations, address issues quickly, and improve the overall customer experience.
