About this opportunity

As the Bridge Supervisor, you will be required to supervise projects and activities. Work in partnership with Principal Specialist Engineers, Engineers, Senior Supervisors, Resource Officers and other Supervisors to carry out designated projects and activities.

The position is based in Boonah, but you may be required to work from any of Council's offices (Beaudesert, Tamborine Mountain and Canungra) or facilities within the Scenic Rim Region.

Additionally, you'll also…

• Oversee and manage work gang/s and contractors to carry out a range of construction and maintenance projects requiring the application of established work practices and procedures on a daily basis.
• Under the guidance of the Senior Supervisor, coordinate and supervise high-risk tasks to ensure compliance with safety standards and work procedures Establish and communicate daily work outcomes for the team, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
• Take responsibility for the security and condition of all Council vehicles, plant, resources and equipment utilised on designated projects and activities.
• Review and evaluate procedures and techniques utilised by work gang under supervision to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Monitor expenditure to ensure compliance with budget, and advise Senior Supervisor of significant variations.
• Monitor standard of works to ensure appropriate quality and efficiency.
• Assess and review performance and work standards for all relevant personnel, and advise Senior Supervisor of any substandard performance and if required suggest corrective actions.
• Provide advice to Senior Supervisor on training needs of relevant personnel to ensure they have the skill necessary to perform their duties effectively.
• Provide timely updates to the Senior Supervisor to ensure they are kept fully informed of project activities and progress.
• Prepare and deliver safety information to the work gang, including toolbox talks, daily pre-starts, and ensure all workers are inducted onto the site before commencing work.

About you…

• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle under a C Class Licence.
• Current High Risk Work Licence
• Current card for General Safety Induction
• Certificate 3 in Civil Construction (Road Construction and Maintenance).
• Intermediate communication skills.
• Basic numeracy skills.
• Acquired skills in understanding construction plans and budgetary control of construction and maintenance projects and personnel management.
• Demonstrated use of levelling equipment such as lasers and automatic (dumpy) levels.
