Curriculum Leader - English

Middle Leadership, Full-time Continuing, Commencing January 2026

Applications are invited for a passionate and collaborative Curriculum Leader English to join our Middle Leadership team in 2026. This is a Tier 2, four-year middle leadership appointment with an underlying, continuing teaching position.

As a permanent, full-time role, the Curriculum Leader English works closely with the Head of Department - English to lead an exceptional team of professionals and innovative curriculum initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an educator dedicated to impactful teaching and learning, who thrives in a collaborative leadership and learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the English teaching team in delivering high-quality curriculum and pedagogy, in collaboration with the Head of Department.

  • Coordinate curriculum planning, including unit development, resource creation, and monitoring of student progress.

  • Analyse student data to inform teaching practices and enhance learning outcomes across the curriculum area.

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to teachers, including beginning teachers, new staff and experienced teachers, to foster professional growth and classroom excellence.

  • Ensure curriculum programs meet Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority syllabus and Australian Curriculum requirements, while addressing diverse learner needs and emerging educational trends.

Role requirements

  • Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority syllabuses and processes and Australian Curriculum frameworks.

  • Proven experience in curriculum development and team leadership within a school setting.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and reflective approach to leadership.

  • A commitment to the values and ethos of Catholic education in the Mercy tradition.
