Clinical Operations Manager

We're looking for an experienced Operations Manager to take the lead in driving the success of the Australasian Kidney Trials Network (AKTN), a collaborative research network advancing clinical trials in kidney disease. You'll play a key leadership role, working with the Chair of the Executive Operations Secretariat to provide hands-on operational, financial, and strategic oversight, ensuring AKTN's research and stakeholder activities run seamlessly and make real impact.

Key responsibilities will include: 

• Support AKTN executive committees with high-level guidance across governance, operations, financial management, and planning.

• Ensure effective service delivery and foster productive relationships with central business areas and key stakeholders.

• Lead the development and implementation of initiatives and operational plans that strengthen AKTN's long-term viability.

• Oversee committee reporting, agenda preparation, and the development of governance frameworks, policies, and risk management strategies.

• Build skilled teams to coordinate clinical trials, improve systems and processes, and contribute to funding applications that advance AKTN's research goals.

This is a part-time (70%), fixed-term position for up to 2 years at HEW Level 9, base at Dutton Park Campus.

• A relevant postgraduate qualification and extensive relevant experience; or extensive management experience and proven management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

• Excellent written and analytical communication skills, including demonstrated ability in research proposal development, research governance and policy development, and the interpretation and dissemination of research sector standards, policies, and guidelines.

• Demonstrated in-depth working knowledge of current applicable regulations and industry best practices and standards pertaining to research conduct in both the domestic and international environment.

• Demonstrated ability in financial management and proven ability to interpret and report on financial data and provide high quality advice.

• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills at both strategic and operational levels, including the ability to work within a collaborative leadership team, and to negotiate, influence, and interact effectively with senior executives and opinion leaders in the research community.

• Demonstrated experience managing professional research operations teams, including planning, setting, and adjusting priorities and resourcing to co-ordinate complex work programs in a fast-paced environment, with stringent quality and compliance obligations.

• Awareness of and commitment to equity principles, organisational ethics, risk management and occupational health and safety policies and practices.
