We are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Officer to join our Operations team and perform a range of tasks relating to the routine maintenance and upkeep of our PARED school grounds. The role will primarily service our north-west schools, Tangara School for Girls in Cherrybrook and Redfield College in Dural, and on occasion, assist with projects at our Western Sydney schools, Montgrove College in Orchard Hills and Wollemi College in Werrington.

As you will be working near teachers, students and external visitors, it is important that all work is conducted in a safe, well organised and professional manner.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Performing general grounds maintenance including mowing (ride-on and push), edging, trimming, pruning, weeding, mulching, and maintaining a clean and tidy outdoor environment across gardens, lawns, playgrounds, and sports fields.
• Monitoring and maintaining irrigation systems to ensure proper operation and efficient water use.
• Coordinate seasonal maintenance activities such as fertilising, aerating, topdressing, rolling, dethatching, and pest and disease treatment to promote healthy turf and plant growth.
• Perform or coordinate regular line marking for sporting fields, athletics tracks, and other school events, including seasonal setup and removal of goalposts and sports equipment.
• Operating a range of grounds and horticultural equipment safely, performing minor servicing and reporting faults or maintenance needs.
• Keeping paved areas, pathways free from weeds, litter, and debris through spraying, sweeping, blowing, and vacuuming.
• Assisting with general site maintenance including pothole repairs, concreting, paver upkeep, and minor building or infrastructure repairs.
• Liaising with arborists, contractors, and suppliers as required for specialised works such as tree maintenance, pest control, or major repairs.
• Identifying and reporting grounds maintenance and safety issues to ensure the site remains compliant with Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
• Supporting school operations by assisting with school setup, movement, or storage of outdoor equipment for school events and activities.
• Performing other duties as directed to support the safe, clean, and functional presentation of the school grounds and facilities.
• Other related duties as required.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sound judgement in WHS matters regarding personal safety and the safety of others
• Must have a valid Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Confident and experienced in the use of hand and power tools to carry out grounds and general maintenance/repairs to a high standard
• Ability to communicate and cooperate effectively with tradespeople, suppliers, school staff and students
• Knowledge and proven experience in general grounds site maintenance and upkeep
• Exceptional time management skills
• Sound technology skills to respond to requests via our maintenance systems.

Salary for this role will be commensurate with experience.
