About You & the RoleYou are a reliable and hands-on team member with experience in civil construction or telecommunications infrastructure, ready to take on the challenges of horizontal directional drilling. Whether you're operating the drill or supporting the crew, you bring a strong commitment to safety, precision, and teamwork in every task.
As a Horizontal Directional Driller, you'll be responsible for operating Vermeer Horizontal Directional Drills, managing bore paths, and navigating underground utilities with accuracy and care. You understand the importance of planning, ground conditions, and drill fluid management, and you take pride in delivering clean, efficient shots that meet project specifications.
As a Driller Offsider, you'll play a key support role in the field, assisting with setup, tooling, and site operations. You'll use DCI Falcon Trackers to monitor drill head location and depth, ensuring accurate tracking and communication with the driller. Your ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and light machinery makes you an essential part of the crew.

Key Responsibilities· Safely operate heavy rigid beavertail trucks to transport drilling equipment.
- Load and unload machinery with care to ensure safe handling and site readiness.
- Mix drilling mud to appropriate consistency for ground conditions and bore stability.
- Assist with conduit pullbacks, ensuring smooth and accurate installation.
- Communicate clearly with team members to maintain safe and efficient operations.
- Uphold high standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism on every job site.
- Stay calm under pressure and apply practical problem-solving when challenges arise.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on earthmoving and drilling equipment.
- Diagnose faults accurately to support timely and effective repairs or adjustments
Essential Requirements
- Heavy Ridged Driver's Licence
- Construction Induction (White Card)
- Horizontal Directional Drilling Experience
- DCI Falcon Tracking Experience
Desirable Attributes
- VAC Truck operation Experience (desirable)
- Traffic Management (Desirable)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable transport to our yard in Morwell, VIC 3840.
