Brisbane Pet Surgery are looking for an experienced Veterinary Nurse for an immediate start.  This position is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week based in Eagle Farm, Queensland.

The Veterinary Nurse will be responsible for the following duties:

Surgery:

  • Ensure surgical equipment is prepared and readily available for specific medical procedures and/or as directed.
  • Assist with patient admissions, intake & pre-operative procedures, as instructed.
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs whist undergoing pre- medication, anaesthesia, surgery & recovery.
  • Undertake post-op patient plan programs in consultation with the Veterinarians and as directed by Nurse Manager
  • Ensure patients progress and status is communicated to other staff and clients in a timely manner

Pathology:

  • Ensures relevant samples are collected and are appropriately labelled and stored.
  • Conduct haematological, blood and other specific laboratory tests as required and ensures results are recorded accurately and communicated to client, veterinarians and veterinary nurses as required.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of usage of various laboratory tests, patient care and positioning

Radiology:

  • Ensure radiographic equipment, environment and patient is prepared, as required.
  • Assist with radiographic procedures as per Radiation Procedure Policy
  • Recording of radiology procedures as per Radiation Procedure Policy

For this position it is expected that you would possess the following qualifications/work experience:

  • Established skills, knowledge & experience in veterinary nursing, terminology & medicines.
  • Relevant qualification/s & licenses'
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage own time to prioritise and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain professional & diplomatic at all times, in stressful work environments.
  • Proven experience in the ability to maintain confidentiality, at all times.
  • Ability to be flexible in order to meet changing & fast paced work conditions.
  • Ability to drive safe Work, Health & Safety practices and represent the interests related to the business, branding and animal care.
