As a Small Engine Mechanic, Your Duties Include

  • Detect and diagnose faults in engines and parts using manual and computer‑assisted methods
  • Dismantle, inspect and reassemble engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components
  • Repair or replace worn or defective parts; refer to service manuals as required
  • Perform scheduled maintenance services (oil changes, lubrications, tune‑ups) to ensure smooth operation and compliance with pollution regulations
  • Test and adjust mechanical components post‑repair to verify proper performance
  • Inspect equipment and issue roadworthiness certificates or provide detailed guidance to achieve compliance

  • AQF Certificate III with at least two years of on‑the‑job training, or Certificate IV, OR a minimum of three years' relevant industry experience in lieu of formal qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and repairing small petrol and battery‑powered engines (e.g. lawn mowers, ride‑on, trimmers, brushcutters, chainsaws)
  • Ability to read technical service manuals and use diagnostic tools and computer‑assisted systems
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high rates of efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused approach, reflecting the company's dedication to personalised service
