A leading global trading firm is looking for a Senior FPGA Engineer to join their technology team in Sydney. This is a leadership role where you will architect and deliver hardware-accelerated solutions, while guiding a team of FPGA engineers. You'll be hands-on from concept through to production, covering hardware selection, FPGA design, simulation, and testing, and work closely with trading and strategy teams to shape industry-leading systems.

What you'll do

  • Architect and design FPGA solutions to accelerate critical areas of trading infrastructure.
  • Lead and mentor a team of FPGA engineers in the design, verification, and implementation of RTL designs (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, or HLS).
  • Implement solutions end-to-end, from board level to API, and deploy into production environments.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, traders, and strategy developers to integrate hardware and software solutions.

What they're looking for

  • Strong expertise in FPGA design and architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog or HLS.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet and TCP/IP preferred.
  • Prior exposure to financial markets or trading systems is highly valued, but not essential.
  • Natural curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, and a drive to innovate and push technology forward
