On 1 January 2026 five health services (Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service) will come together to create Bayside Health. A newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.
About the Role – Casual
We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join our team on a Casual basis. Bass Coast Health's Occupational Therapy Team provide acute, sub-acute, community and aged care services across multiple sites. Our Occupational Therapy team work closely with nursing, medical, and allied health colleagues to provide holistic, patient-centred care. Our Occupational Therapy team are dynamic, flexible and supportive. Together, we offer generalist services as well as some specialty services including Hand Therapy and Paediatric services to our community. We have a strong focus on 'growing our own' future regional healthcare leaders and supporting our staff to develop their clinical areas of interest. The team are committed to supporting one another and sharing their knowledge in a trusting environment where learning is encouraged.
The Grade 1 or 2 Occupational Therapist will have the opportunity to work across a range of areas at Bass Coast Health. Clinical area services include inpatient acute and sub-acute wards, community and possible opportunities to investigate other areas of speciality practice including Hand Therapy and Paediatrics. The Occupational Therapists provide evidence-based assessments and interventions and work closely with our friendly and dynamic multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to our community. The Occupational Therapists may also be involved in the provision of weekend and public holiday services.
Position Description:
MANDATORY Qualification Registration and Licence Requirements:
· Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Master of Occupational Therapy or recognised equivalent
· Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
· Member of or eligibility for membership of OT Australia
· Entitlement to work within Australia
· Current Australian Driver's Licence
· A Police Check that is current and within 12 months of the issue date
· Current Working with Children Check
· Current or proof of application of NDIS Worker Screening Check
· Seasonal influenza vaccination of healthcare workers in accordance with Secretary, Department of Health Directions
DESIRABLE:
· Demonstrated knowledge of clinical Occupational Therapy theory and practice
· Demonstrated knowledge, skills and clinical experience across a range of clinical areas
· Evidence of ability to initiate and maintain effective professional relationships with the multidisciplinary team, clients, families and strategic partners.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively within a team environment
· Demonstrated high level written communication skills including assessments and subsequent reports / recommendations to meet therapeutic goals and target the needs of individuals and funding bodies
· Established skills in organisation, planning and priority setting
· Evidence of demonstrated commitment to improving knowledge and practice through targeted professional development
· Evidence of demonstrated participation in continuous quality improvement activities
