Maritime Constructions are a marine contractor, uniquely capable of self-performing the full range of specialised engineering disciplines to deliver complex marine infrastructure projects from design and construction through to commissioning. Projects include jetties, wharves, bulk loading facilities, dredging, reclamation, navigation aids, marinas, underwater pipelines, in Australia and internationally.

About the Role:
The Vessel Master has a fundamental responsibility to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their crew and the seaworthiness of the vessel. They work closely with the relevant Business Unit Manager, Project Manager and Project Supervisor to fulfill the company's obligations for execution of multiple projects companywide. Main responsibilities include:
- Careful planning of voyages including staff, equipment, fuel, provisions and other work and vessel requirements are fully met. Monitoring and forecasting weather from charts and reports to ensure that activities are conducted safely and appropriately
- Tight supervision of Crew and vessels across a range of performance, safety, maintenance and operational activities
- Ensure safety regulations and laws are complied with including the completion and maintenance of related documents and the filing of certificates and service reports are up to date
- Assisting in project operations including consultation with the Project Manager/Project Supervisor and clients to ensure all project activities meet the client's requirements
- Actively promote a learning and supportive work environment where employees are highly valued as Marine Infrastructure Specialists

About you:
You are an experienced Vessel Master with a proactive and solutions focused mindset. You display professional behavior at all times and take your role as coach and mentor seriously. In addition to this you:
- Are adaptable, flexible and able to live on board while working away
- Are available on weekends - this is essential to be able to work safely in ever-changing weather conditions
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Have a genuine commitment to QHSE compliance and shipboard safety
- Your Seamanship skills are second to none
- You are a natural leader
- Must pass a full pre-employment medical including functional capacity fitness evaluation and drug and alcohol screening
- Have extensive knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements regarding vessel operation and management
Skills/Qualification:
- Must hold an AMSA issued Master 5 as a minimum
- Must have minimum MED 2
- High risk tickets such as dogging and rigging desirable but not essential
- Previous experience in the construction industry will be favoured
- Experience towing Barges and working close quarters in and around marine structures desirable but not essential
- Current First Aid certificate essential
- Construction White Card essential
- Current driver's license essential
