About the Role

MSS Security is seeking a confident and capable Full Time Relief Security Officer to join our Defence operations at a secured base in Amberley. This critical role involves protecting Defence personnel, assets, and infrastructure through proactive patrols, access control, and a strong on-site presence.

You are the kind of person who stays calm under pressure, pays attention to the finer details, and values consistency when it matters most. On a Defence site, those qualities are not just desirable, they are critical. Your presence, judgement, and integrity directly contribute to Australia's national security.

Key Duties

  • Access Control – Monitor entry and exit points to ensure only authorised personnel are permitted on site
  • Foot Patrols – Conduct regular patrols to maintain situational awareness and deter potential threats
  • Stakeholder Liaison – Build rapport with Defence personnel, contractors, and visitors while maintaining a strong security presence
  • Incident Response – React promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergencies, or suspicious behaviour
  • Compliance Monitoring – Ensure site protocols and Defence security procedures are followed at all times
  • Reporting & Documentation – Accurately record incidents, shift activities, and observations in line with site requirements

What you will need to be considered for the role -

  • Australian Citizenship – required for Defence security clearance eligibility
  • Current QLD Security Licence
  • Baseline Defence Clearance or willingness to obtain one
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in engaging with Defence personnel and stakeholders
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions
  • Strong integrity, accountability, and attention to detail
