The Role
This is a senior-level position suited to an accomplished litigation lawyer with a strong background in civil and commercial law. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently managing a portfolio of matters, supervising a small legal team, and delivering high-quality legal services to a diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a range of complex civil and commercial litigation matters from initial instructions through to final resolution
  • Draft pleadings, court documents, legal correspondence, and written advice to a high standard
  • Conduct negotiations, mediations, and settlement conferences
  • Appear in court (independently or with counsel) across various jurisdictions.
  • Provide strategic legal and commercial advice to clients in a timely and effective manner
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior legal staff and paralegals
  • Maintain compliance with applicable court rules and electronic filing procedures
  • Develop and nurture strong client relationships and assist with business development initiatives

Candidate Requirements:

  • Admitted as a solicitor in Australia with a current unrestricted practising certificate
  • Strong technical knowledge of civil procedures.
  • Experience in insurance litigation, particularly recoveries, motor claims, demurrage, or property damage, is highly regarded
  • Proven ability to manage a legal team and supervise matters effectively
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen with a client-centric mindset
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal practice management systems
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to professional excellence
