The Opportunity

Council is looking for experienced cleaners on a casual basis for shifts Monday to Sunday, including public holidays. You will join a dedicated Facilities team who take pride in their community and the work they do, keeping offices, buildings and public amenities clean and presentable for use by employees, members of the community and visitors. Our casual cleaners must be available to support facilities operations and be able to work during periods of high workload, community events, and fill in for employees who are on leave.

The Role

Council is looking for Cleaners who demonstrate a teamwork mindset and think safety with all tasks. Being an effective team member is critical for this role, because working together achieves goals, efficiency, consistency and quality of work.  Whilst you are part of a team, you must be able to work independently and at various locations within the Livingstone region as directed.

Candidates are required be able to perform manual tasks safely and effectively due to the physical demands of the role. Responsibilities includes the safe operation of high pressure cleaners, extendable equipment, vacuum cleaners and safely use chemicals. You must be able to work on your feet for extended periods of time, and capable to lift, carry and move equipment and materials.

This position is responsible for carrying out a broad range of cleaning duties and no two days are the same. Cleaning public amenities may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is an IMPORTANT job and includes but not limited to, sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays, taps, sinks, door knobs, drinking fountains, windows, and cleaning various elements of vandalism including special cleans and sanitising resulting from acts of vandalism, as well as cobwebbing and mildew control.

Weekend Shifts

Amenities Run: 6.00am – 10.00am

Lagoon 6.00am am

Lagoon 12pm – 4.00pm

Workday Shifts

Amenities Run: 5.00am to 2.00pm

Lagoon/buildings/offices: 6.00am – 3.00pm

Pre-Employment Screening

Candidates must be willing to participate and successfully complete a functional capacity evaluation and be immunised against Hepatitis A&B and Tetanus.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Experience from working in a similar position and the ability to maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness of public amenities;
• Must possess and maintain a current motor vehicle drivers licence.
• Communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and strongly focused and committed to the provision of quality customer service to colleagues, employees and members of the public;
• Availability to work weekdays and weekends;
• Strong commitment to safety in the workplace; and
• Successfully complete a Functional Capacity Evaluation.
