Job Description:

We're seeking a senior academic leader to design, document and ready for accreditation a new Bachelor of Islamic Studies (AQF 7). You will lead course and unit design, build assessment and moderation frameworks, coordinate external reviews and benchmarking, and compile an assessor-ready dossier for Academic Board approval and TEQSA submission.

Skills required:

●     Strong TEQSA/AQF/HESF literacy and experience translating standards into course design.

●     Advanced assessment design & moderation (constructive alignment, rubrics, and grade standards).

●     Excellent academic writing/editing; ability to produce assessor-ready documentation.

●     Stakeholder management and project leadership across academic/governance forums.

●     Collaborative, student-centred approach; commitment to integrity and continuous improvement.

●     Arabic literacy and familiarity with classical/contemporary sources (highly regarded).

The role may include but is not limited to:

●     Drafting CLOs aligned to AQF 7; designing course structure (credit points, progression, core/electives).

●     Producing unit outlines (ULOs mapped to CLOs), weekly schedules, readings, and LMS minimum presence.

●     Building an assessment framework and moderation plan (pre/point/post; sampling; grade ratification).

●     Coordinating independent external reviews and benchmarking; documenting responses and improvements.

●     Maintaining a version-controlled evidence index mapped to HESF; preparing Academic Board/Board of Directors papers.

●     Ensuring student orientation/support, reasonable adjustments, and accurate public course information.

Requirements:

●     PhD in Islamic Studies (or closely related field) or equivalent standing appropriate to AQF 7 leadership.

●     Demonstrated bachelor-level curriculum leadership and assessment expertise.

●     Right to work in Australia; WWCC and National Police Check (or ability to obtain).
