The role
As the Design Team Supervisor you will be apart of our R&D team based in Rydalmere. You will report directly to the R&D Program Manager and have 2 direct reports. You will lead the transformation of a multi-national design team through a critical phase of digital modernisation. This role ensures excellence in design processes, data integrity, and cross-functional collaboration using CAD, PLM, and ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a team of design professionals.
- Oversee CAD, PLM & ERP systems impacting all product SKUs.
- Manage creation and change of design data across ERP and CAD platforms.
- Ensure high-quality outputs using Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
- Drive innovation, efficiency, and alignment with business objectives.
- Lead PLM system rollout and ensure robust change control.
- Digitally integrate PLM & ERP systems to eliminate manual data entry.
- Maintain compliance with internal and external standards.
Strategic Impact
- Contribute to product development for residential and commercial markets.
- Collaborate with R&D, Sales, Manufacturing, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
- Support operations across Australia, New Zealand, and Vietnam with unified processes.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have;
- Degree or technical qualification in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field
- Certifications in digital systems, PLM, ERP, or process improvement (preferred)
- Proven leadership experience in design roles within manufacturing or engineering environments
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks
- Practical experience with PLM systems and BOM management
- Familiarity with SAP ECC and S/4HANA; experience with FIORI apps is a strong plus
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical teams
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive digital transformation initiatives
- Experience in water heating or appliance design within a manufacturing setting is highly desirable
- Comfortable collaborating across internal teams including Design, R&D, Purchasing, IT, Finance, Sales, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing
- Able to engage with external partners such as suppliers, IT contractors, and certification bodies
