The Role
As Principal Surveyor | Practice Lead, you will be responsible for:
Leadership & Practice Management – Leading and mentoring a team of surveyors, driving culture, collaboration, and staff development. Overseeing recruitment, workforce planning, and performance management to ensure a highly engaged team.
Project Delivery & Commercial Performance – Managing projects end-to-end, ensuring technical excellence, timely delivery, and profitability. Overseeing financial performance, WIP, invoicing, and resourcing.
Client Relationships & Business Development – Acting as a key client manager, maintaining strong existing relationships, and identifying opportunities to expand RPS's presence in the region. Leading proposals, bids, and cross-service collaboration.
Technical Excellence – Providing direction on cadastral, engineering, and construction surveys. Ensuring quality assurance, safety compliance, and effective use of digital systems.
Strategic Leadership – Driving the long-term success of the Newcastle practice, aligning with RPS's wider business strategy, and contributing to business growth across Place and Development.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and commercially astute leader who:
- Holds a recognised degree in Surveying and is registered with the Surveyors Board of NSW
- Brings extensive experience in surveying practice, including cadastral and construction survey expertise
- Demonstrates strong project management and financial acumen
- Has proven ability in leadership, mentoring, and team development
- Excels in client relationship management and business development
- Is passionate about staff engagement, culture, and high-quality outcomes
- You MUST be based in the Newcastle area, with full working rights, citizenship or Permanent residency status, we are unable to provide sponsorship for this role.
