• Cog2b salary: $83,288 to $95,778 plus superannuation

Barwon Prison is a maximum-security facility for men, located 6 km north-west of Lara, 20 km from Geelong and about 70 km from Melbourne, Victoria. The prison accommodates a complex cohort, including sentenced and non-sentenced, high-risk protection, high-security and management people in custody.

The prison safely and humanely contains and manages the individual needs of the men, with the aim of providing a successful transition back into the community or on their continued journey through the prison system.

About the Role:

The Senior Prison Officer - Recreation is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of recreational programs and activities, both passive and active within the location. The role also includes assisting the Vocational Services Team with other activities including but not limited to planning and facilitating events within the location, i.e.: cultural events and significant/major events.

Some of your other duties will include:

• Coordinating and supervising a range of activities for meaningful prisoner development and engagement.
• Liaising with external service providers and stakeholders in the delivery of programs.
• Providing oversight of Recreational budget when planning, developing, and coordinating recreation activities and programs.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

• Knowledge of, and the ability to use, computer software such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel, internal CV computer systems, including Centurion and e-mail.
• Knowledge and experience with the operation within a prison environment.
• Knowledge of, and the ability to apply relevant legislation, policy and procedure relating to CV and the management of its prison facilities.
• Capacity or aptitude to work with clients who are difficult to engage individually and in group settings.

Qualifications:

• Applicants must have successfully completed the Corrections Victoria Prison Officer pre-service training course. (Desirable)
