About the role
Provide hands-on delivery of the ALPA Health and Nutrition Strategy and participate in the implementation of the three-year, NIAA-funded First Nations Nutrition Workforce Program to improve health outcomes in remote First Nations Communities.
This role has the flexibility to be based in Darwin or Cairns and is a fixed term full-time position for 3 years.
Responsibilities
- Travel to remote Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities in Queensland to operationalise the ALPA Health and Nutrition Strategy and participate in the implementation of the Nutrition Workforce Program.
- Deliver focused nutrition training to First Nations team members employed in the 3 year-NIAA funded Nutrition Workforce Program.
- Mentor First Nations trainees.
- Working with the Retail Division leadership and the community-based Store Managers, to educate, audit, and participate in the delivery of key indicators related to food range, store layout, planograms, promotions, takeaway, and fresh food.
- Produce a suite of reports and monitor key performance indicators relevant to the Strategy.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Understanding of the social determinants of health and the impact on Aboriginal health in remote communities.
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment and the ability to negotiate and undertake conflict resolution.
- Experience working alongside First Nations Australians or people from diverse backgrounds.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication skills that can be adapted to meet the needs of people from varied backgrounds. education levels, language abilities, and ethnic origin.
