About the Role

The Bachelor of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Course Coordinator/Lecturer is responsible for coordinating and facilitating a quality data science and AI program that meets rigorous academic standards while incorporating cutting-edge technology and industry-relevant applications.

This position combines deep expertise in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence with educational delivery capabilities, ensuring KOI's data science & artificial intelligence program maintains competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving technology education marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Subject Matter Expertise

  • Deliver high-quality instruction across Data Science and AI subjects including:

  • Statistics, machine learning, deep learning, and data engineering

  • AI ethics, algorithm development, and system implementation
  • Data analysis, visualization, and predictive modelling
  • Conduct virtual coding sessions, algorithm walkthroughs, and interactive technical workshops
  • Facilitate classes using contemporary learning methodologies for technical education
  • Mentor students through technical problem-solving, career guidance, and industry preparation
  • Guide students through complex technical projects including machine learning model development and AI system implementation

Course Coordination & Administration

  • Coordinate course schedules, technical assessments, and academic calendar requirements
  • Manage enrolments, communications, and academic progress monitoring with attention to technical prerequisites
  • Liaise with academic staff, industry practitioners, and technology professionals
  • Coordinate curriculum updates reflecting rapidly evolving field developments
  • Oversee technical assessment processes, coding standards, and academic integrity procedures
  • Manage relationships with industry partners, technology companies, and guest speakers
  • Ensure course content remains current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and professional practices

Student Support & Career Development

  • Provide academic support including technical troubleshooting and programming guidance
  • Develop engagement strategies for technical learners, career changers, and international students
  • Monitor student progress in challenging technical concepts and implement early intervention strategies
  • Facilitate peer learning networks and professional development opportunities in data science and AI
  • Conduct feedback sessions and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support students with career transition guidance and technical portfolio development
  • Connect students with internship opportunities, industry projects, and mentorship programs

About You

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Doctoral-level qualification (PhD) or equivalent standing in Data Science, Computer Science, AI, or related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
  • Formal teaching qualification or adult education experience in technical subjects (Graduate Certificate in Higher Education preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years in similar academic roles
  • Minimum 8-10 years combined industry and educational experience
  • Higher education sector experience in Australia, particularly data science or AI program administration

Essential Technical Skills

  • Expert knowledge across core data science disciplines: Statistics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Engineering, AI Ethics
  • Advanced understanding of contemporary data science and AI practices including:

  • Programming languages (Python, R, SQL, JavaScript)

  • Machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
  • Data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, )
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and technical education platforms
  • Demonstrated ability in virtual facilitation and technical instruction delivery
  • Project management capabilities for technology education projects

  • Active participation in open-source projects or technical communities
