About the role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Advisor (CA) to join the Dandenong team.

The Drug Court CA is responsible for providing a range of clinical advice, treatment and referral services for the Drug Court and its' participants, in line with the principles and practices of the model. It is the role of the Drug Court CA to:

  • Assess potential participants referred to the Drug Court and develop treatment plans to address substance use and associated issues.
  • Develop individual treatment plans for participants on a Drug Treatment Order to address their substance use, psychosocial history and
  • Participate in case conferences and provide expert advice to the Court in relation to the offender's psychosocial history, substance use and suitability for the inclusion in and ongoing participation in the program.
  • Provide assessment and progress reports for the Drug Court Magistrate.
  • Develop, manage and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Court Services Victoria, court staff, judiciary, community organisations, drug treatment agencies, peer agencies, and other Victorian Government Departments andNon Government Organisations.
  • Contribute to the development and progress of the Drug Court program including the development and continuous improvement of clinical policies, procedures and assessment tools.

The Drug Court CA is a vital member of a multi-disciplinary team, and the successful candidate will excel in a team environment.

About you

You will have exceptional communication and organisation skills to build and sustain effective relationships with participants and stakeholders in order to respectfully address their enquires and needs. Your other strengths will include:

  • Demonstrated experience working with AoD and mental health clients and a sound application of treatment pathways. You will be computer literate and able to effectively use relevant computer systems and be a fast learner.
  • Be clinically competent and be confident in providing current treatment advice to magistrates and non-clinical staff members.
  • Tertiary qualification in health, social work, welfare or related field with emphasis in AOD specifically is required.
  • DHHS Accreditation (or eligible) is desired
