Teaching is an integral part of the role and there are plentiful opportunities, both within the hospital (medical students, junior medical staff and allied health colleagues) and throughout the region (local GPs, schools, allied health).

The University of Sydney Rural School of Medicine and also the Charles Sturt University, oversee placement of students at OHS. The paediatricians are appointed as Clinical Lecturers to provide education and supervision for rotations in Child and Adolescent Health and Perinatal and Women's Health. Orange hosts an annual APLS provider course, as well as PLS and simulation training for students and staff, with four of the paediatricians and several anaesthetists, being APLS instructors.
