An Australian manufacturer supplying conveyor pulleys and related components to the mining and bulk materials sector. The business has been investing heavily in Lean improvements across its Bayswater workshop — upgrading layout, tooling and material flow to lift safety and productivity. It's a busy, well-organised environment where everyone's work directly impacts what leaves the door.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced Material Handler to support production on the pulley line. This isn't a warehouse or dispatch role — it's a workshop position handling heavy fabricated components, using 16-tonne forklifts and overhead cranes to move pulleys weighing from one tonne up to fifteen.

The job is about more than just moving materials. It's about understanding how the work flows and keeping it moving. You'll get to know the fitters, welders and machinists — what jobs they're working on, what's coming next, and what needs to be where — so that production never stops waiting on materials.

Key tasks

  • Operate 16-t forklifts to move pulleys and components safely around the workshop
  • Secure and stage loads correctly for lifting and movement
  • Support machining, fabrication and assembly areas with materials and components
  • Work with supervisors and trades to plan ahead and maintain workflow
  • Keep traffic routes clear, work areas safe and records accurate

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment (not warehouse/distribution)
  • Current LF forklift licence — confident operating 16-t machines
  • Strong understanding of load restraint and safe lifting practices
  • Good communicator who plans ahead and works well with others
  • Reliable, safety-conscious and steady under pressure — not a "gung-ho" operator

The offer

  • Pay rate: $43.38/hr – $46.76/hr + penalties (depending on experience)
  • Hours: Around 45 per week, with overtime during busy periods
