Housekeeping Supervisor

The Langham Melbourne is currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Supervisor to join the Housekeeping team

This role is responsible for assisting the Housekeeping management team in the overall administration and operation of the Housekeeping department.

About the role

You will have the opportunity to work with the Housekeeping Team which consists of approximately 120 colleagues. This is an exciting opportunity for you to grow your hotel skill set in order to build a career with-in The Langham, shall you be determined and dedicated.

This position is an integral part of a high performing hotel team, and a key contributor to the hotel's ongoing success.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Adept at managing a large team of Room Attendants, Supervisors & Public Area Attendants.
• Our ideal candidate will have experience in a similar 5 star environment.
• Responsible for the overall smooth running of a shift.
• Managing any staff issues that may arise
• Co-ordinating the room allocations for all Room Attendants
• Conducting staff briefings
• Setting an excellent example as a senior member of the team
• Problem solve any guest issues that arise
• Be a part of the Emergency Response Team
• Conduct Public Area cleanliness standard checks
• Training and mentoring Room Attendants towards becoming a self-checker
• Checking VIP guest rooms
• Assist in conducting staff appraisals

Previous experience in a similar role is desired. Flexibility with various shifts is required.

Skills and experience

For this role, your attributes will be inclusive of the following:

• Have a keen eye for detail.
• Be able to work under pressure and have good time management skills.
• Experience in Rostering large teams
• Experience in Performance Management of staff.
• Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in a luxury hotel or similar
• Have superior communication skills
• Knowledge of hotel computer systems – Opera PMS
• Deliver the 'total guest experience'
• Well presented, friendly with a professional attitude
• Able to work well under pressure
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and motivate staff
• Strong organizational skills,  attention to detail, flexibility, and a commitment to the highest level of guest service
• Flexibility with various shifts
