JOB SUMMARY
A Senior Manager, Line 1 Technology Risk, acts as a key point of contact within the business as the first line of defence, advising the business on technology-related risks and ensuring effective risk management practices. They partner with business units to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with Arch's Risk Management Framework and Operational Risk Management Framework, all regulatory obligations and fostering a strong risk culture. The role has a primary relationship responsibility with material service providers incl. Arch Capital and its subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Identification and Assessment:
- Identify, assess, and analyse technology risks across various areas, including cloud adoption, cybersecurity threats, and third-party risks.
- Ongoing development and maintenance of a comprehensive Governance, Risk, and Compliance register, tracking risks and their mitigation strategies.
- Ensuring contractual obligations in terms of service level agreements are achieved for our clients.
Risk Mitigation and Control:
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and controls, working closely with the Executive Committee.
- Monitor the effectiveness of controls and ensure they are operating as designed.
Risk Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare and present regular risk reports to management, highlighting key risks, trends, and performance metrics including in any areas of non-compliance.
- Communicate risk information effectively to stakeholders at all levels, in a timely manner as required by various policies, promoting a risk-aware culture.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance risk management effectiveness.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of risk management frameworks and policies.
Compliance Assurance:
- Review and approve risk and control self-assessments, ensuring they meet framework requirements and are effective.
Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with Arch's Risk and Compliance function to ensure a coordinated approach to risk management and reporting.
- Provide guidance and support to business units on risk management matters, including incident reporting and remediation.
Monitoring and Assurance:
- Monitor technology risks, controls, issues, and incidents, ensuring timely reporting and remediation.
Knowledge & Skills
- Skills: Excellent communication, report writing, evidence gathering, data analysis, stakeholder management, and influencing skills are crucial.
- Knowledge: A strong knowledge of Risk Management Frameworks, IT Security Standards, and Regulatory Requirements, this includes ISO27001 and APRA regulations (including CPS 234 – Information Security and CPS 230 – Operational Risk).
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Computer Science.
- Professional Certifications: Certifications for Line 1 Technology Risk in Australia would be preferred but not essential.
Experience
Experience in Operational Risk, Compliance, and / or Technology Risk Management within the Financial Services or related industries is required.
