About the Organisation
Our client is Australia's leading peer-led youth trauma recovery organization, dedicated to supporting at-risk youth aged 8-17. Their mission is to empower young people by fostering healing and resilience through shared experiences. They do this by creating safe spaces, where young people with lived experience support each other to heal from trauma, make meaningful peer connections, improve mental wellbeing and overcome life challenges.
About the Role
We are looking for a pool of casual Workshop Facilitators based in Rockhampton (working out of the PCYC Capricorn Coast) or Natural Bridge (working out of PCYC Bornhoffen) and a full-time Workshop Facilitator who will travel between Rockhampton and Natural Bridge. Workshop Facilitators work closely with a Case Worker, Peer Mentors and other key stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of the regional reset program intensive weekend workshops. These 2- and 4-day workshops include co-facilitated group work with young people as well as occasionally their families and extended support networks.
Your responsibilities within this role may include:
- Planning, developing and delivering high quality educational and/or developmental programs and activities.
- Engaging with young people, their families and extended networks applying trauma-informed practice, open dialogue principles and culturally safe practices in your interactions.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders such as outsourced workshop facilitators, local community organisations, external business and service providers - supporting ongoing partnerships promotion and community development
- Role modeling safe, positive and professional relationships with co-facilitators.
- Provide reports on the progress of the project workshops, providing feedback and recommendations where required
Please note this role requires availability both outside of normal business hours and across weekends on an ongoing basis.
About You
- Experience in facilitating impactful programs for young people, their families and wider support networks
- Understanding of and capability to engage with people from a range of social and cultural backgrounds, treating everyone with fairness and respect
- Extensive knowledge of the challenges and issues experienced by young people affected by crime and the justice system.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Essential Requirements
- Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- National Police Record Check
- Willingness to achieve a First Aid Certificate
