Your role:

If you're studying to be a Doctor, you're probably already thinking about what you're going to do when you finish your degree. With the Defence University Sponsorship, you'll earn a salary while you study, plus have part of your study fees taken care of. As a Doctor in the Army, you'll be exposed to modern and challenging operating environments. It's the same equipment you'd have in a civilian position, but with an ever-changing backdrop and range of patients – from fit healthy adults to refugees and injured troops.

Salary:

This is your opportunity to be paid a competitive salary as you study for your degree at the university of your choice. Not to mention, you'll receive other benefits like rental allowance, textbook reimbursement and assistance with your HELP fees.

While studying your salary will depend on the completion status of your course, however, on completion of your degree, initial military and employment training, you could earn $138,979 per annum plus generous superannuation.

Eligibility:  

For this role, you must:

  • Have completed at least one year of a five or six year full-time medical degree

  • Be at least 17 at the time of appointment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics

  • If you are not an Australian Citizen, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page to confirm you meet the requirements for a career in the ADF.

  • Be reasonably fit and healthy.Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You'll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don't worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare

  • Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
