Job Description
Maurice Blackburn has a long history of practising in Abuse Law, and of advocating on the part of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a unique opportunity to establish credentials and expertise in a developing area of law. Key Responsibilities
In this role, you'll play a hands-on part in every stage of the legal process, including:
Engaging directly with clients to take detailed instructions and build strong relationships
Reviewing and interpreting complex records with a critical eye
Drafting clear, thoughtful written communications for clients
Preparing briefs and liaising with medical experts and allied health professionals
Drafting high-quality court documents with precision and care
Attending procedural hearings and representing the team in court
Collaborating closely with barristers to prepare matters for hearing
Qualifications
We are looking for a Lawyer with strong client service focus, personable approach, and commitment to social justice. You will ideally have at least 2-3 years PAE however if you have a strong desire to forge a career within this space we want to hear from you. In addition, you will have:
- A valid practising certificate
- Prior experience working within a Personal injury, Medical Negligence or Litigation environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships and trust
- An ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organisational skills, with high attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills, and commitment to drive matters to resolution in a timely manner
- A strong knowledge of the relevant procedural rules relevant to personal injury practice in Victoria
- The ability to speak to clients from different backgrounds
- A solutions focused outlook with a proactive approach to deliver quality outcomes
