Irrigation and General Farm Maintenance

About the Role

Borsato Farming is currently seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as an Irrigation and General Farm Maintenance Assistant at our banana farm in Tolga, Queensland. This role offers a variety of duties related to the efficient operation of our farm, with flexible responsibilities tailored to the successful applicant's experience and skill set.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Conduct regular irrigation system checks.

· Carry out fertiliser applications.

· Operation of medium rigid truck transport bananas to packing shed.

· Chemical and fertiliser spray application.

· Perform prestart checks on machinery and equipment prior to use.

· Undertake general machinery maintenance as required, including basic repairs and servicing.

· Assist with other farm maintenance tasks as directed, with opportunities to take on additional responsibilities in line with your previous experience and any trade qualifications.

Candidate Profile

· Previous experience in irrigation, fertigation, or machinery maintenance/operation is highly regarded.

· MR truck licence ideal. Training and licence application can be provided.

· Any trade qualification or hands-on technical skills will be considered beneficial, with pay rates reflecting relevant experience.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously as well as within a team.

· Willingness to take on a flexible range of tasks and adapt to changing priorities throughout the season.

· Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude towards farm work.

Working Hours

Our normal operating hours are:

· Monday to Thursday: 6.30 AM – 3.30 PM

· Friday: 6.30 AM – 12.30 PM

There may be opportunities for flexibility within these hours based on the needs of the farm and your own experience.

Remuneration

Remuneration for this position will commence above the award rate, with previous experience and relevant trade skills directly reflected in your pay. We value the expertise our team members bring, and we offer competitive rates to recognise your contribution.
