The team
The Sustainability, Financial Reporting and Audit (SFA) team plays a vital role in upholding trust and confidence in the market by ensuring that financial and sustainability reports, as well as their external audits, meet all legal requirements.
As a member of this team, you would be involved in monitoring and reviewing reporting and auditing practices to identify and address behaviours that could lead to poor outcomes. The team's work is proactive and impactful, aiming to drive positive change across the sector.
Beyond compliance activities, the SFA team also contributes to shaping policy, delivering educational initiatives, and engaging with stakeholders across the industry. These efforts are designed to foster continuous improvement and promote best practices in financial and sustainability reporting and auditing.

The role
As an Analyst/Lawyer - Sustainable Finance, you will be accountable for the following areas:
- Regulatory Supervision & Compliance
- This involves contributing to risk-based supervision and thematic reviews to ensure sector-wide compliance. You will also be evaluating legislative relief applications, applying sound regulatory judgment, and preparing legal instruments. The position requires analysing data to identify regulatory harms, determine root causes, and propose effective solutions. You'll proactively support and implement strategies that enhance consumer and investor outcomes while safeguarding market integrity.
- Data, Insights & Reporting
- This entails the leading of innovative data strategies by driving effective collection, analysis, and communication of insights. Maintaining expertise in ASIC's regulatory framework and industry best practices, while delivering high-quality reports and presentations to senior management and stakeholders.
- Policy, Law reform and guidance
- This will require proactively identifying opportunities for law reform and supporting related projects, assisting in implementing new policies and guidance, and contributing to ASIC's public messaging to educate and set expectations for regulated populations
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- You will be actively supporting and participating in stakeholder meetings to drive improved consumer outcomes, delivering expert advice and clear reports for key issues, and collaborating across ASIC teams to facilitate effective enforcement and compliance actions.
About you
Are you ready to make an impact in sustainable finance?
We're looking for candidates with a relevant tertiary qualification - such as Accounting, Auditing, or Law.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Australian financial services industry from a regulatory, product, operations, risk, or client service perspective.
Experience in sustainable finance, climate change adaptation or mitigation, greenhouse gas emissions accounting, ESG analytics, or sustainability assurance will set you apart for this exciting opportunity.
You will also demonstrate:
- Strong analytical skills to interpret legislation and solve complex problems
- Proven ability to deliver strategic priorities through stakeholder engagement and innovative thinking
- Expertise in identifying trends, risks, and driving quality outcomes in dynamic environments
- Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively
- Stakeholder management and project leadership experience
- Outstanding organizational and problem-solving abilities
