Who We Are
At dss+, we're more than an operations consulting firm — we're implementers, partners, and catalysts for change. We help organisations build resilient and sustainable operations by improving safety, reducing risk, strengthening culture, and delivering long-lasting operational excellence.
Across mining, energy, utilities, construction, infrastructure, industrials, manufacturing, chemicals, oil & gas, food & beverage, and private equity, our teams work side-by-side with clients to protect what they care about, transform how they operate, and sustain meaningful results.
We combine deep technical expertise with strong people-centric change capability — turning complex challenges into practical, executable solutions. And with Operational Excellence being a global growth priority for dss+, we're expanding our ANZ team.
If you're commercially driven, entrepreneurial, and passionate about helping organisations operate better and safer — you might be exactly who we're looking for.
Why This Role Matters
This role sits at the forefront of our ANZ growth agenda. As the senior leader for Operational Excellence across the region, you will shape our OE strategy, build new client relationships, and expand our footprint in mining, energy, food and beverage and industrial markets , where a significant portion of our client base and growth pipeline sits.
You'll have the platform, resources, and autonomy to grow a practice — not just run one.
You will be a member of the ANZ Leadership Team and also part of our global community of 100+ OE consultants, technical specialists, and capability hubs.
What You Will Lead
As Director for Operational Excellence in ANZ, you will:
Commercial Growth & Sales Leadership
· Lead business development for OE across ANZ, with a strong focus on mining, energy, food and beverage and industrial sectors.
· Build, grow and convert a robust sales pipeline across new and existing accounts.
· Shape OE offerings and create compelling value propositions that resonate with the market.
· Work closely with industry and market leads to drive account expansion and pull-through opportunities.
· Develop and refine go-to-market offerings tailored to key Australian industries.
· Represent dss+ as a thought leader in OE and sustainable operations.
Client Delivery & Value Creation
· Lead and contribute to delivery of high-impact OE engagements.
· Provide executive sponsorship on major accounts and engagements, with responsibility for deepening long-term relationships and ensuring sustained value creation.
· Build, strengthen and expand trusted, long-term client relationships with senior executives, in the target sectors.
· Ensure delivery excellence and measurable value creation for clients.
· Support teams in diagnosing improvement opportunities, implementing OE programs, and sustaining results.
Practice Leadership & Capability Building
· Define and implement the ANZ OE growth strategy in collaboration with the ANZ OE senior team members and the ANZ Leadership Team.
· Develop reusable assets, methodologies, and IP in collaboration with global OE leaders.
· Strengthen internal capability and coach/mentor consultants across the region.
· Lead, mentor and line manage a team of Managers, Senior Consultants and Analysts, ensuring strong capability development in OE and consulting skills.
· Build networks across global, regional, and technical communities inside dss+.
· Drive thought leadership through points of view, case studies, methodologies. Build brand presence via external speaking engagements, articles, conferences, roundtables.
What You Bring
You are likely a Director or Partner in consulting — or a seasoned operations leader with strong commercial orientation — who has:
Experience
· years of experience, including at least 5 years in consulting or a client-facing leadership role.
· A proven track record in selling and delivering Operational Excellence programs.
· Strong business development experience — from origination to close — ideally within mining, energy, food and beverage or industrial sectors.
· Strong relationships and network with senior leaders in some of the target industry sectors.
· Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and large, complex operational transformations.
Technical OE Knowledge
Experience in areas such as:
· OE strategy, diagnostics, and roadmap development.
· Continuous Improvement, sustainable operations, cost improvement, throughput optimisation.
· Asset Management, Maintenance & Reliability, operational performance uplift.
· KPI design, data management, reporting, and operational governance.
· Familiarity with Operational Risk Management and Sustainability frameworks.
· Understanding of operations management value drivers, standards, analytics, and technology.
Leadership & Mindset
· Strong commercial acumen and confidence engaging at executive level.
· Outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to lead multicultural teams, and a collaborative, low-ego approach.
· Intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for solving complex operational problems.
· Ability to undertake travel throughout Australia and Asia Pacific.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or business; postgraduate degrees (MBA, MEng, MSc Eng) are highly regarded.
· Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
What You'll Gain
At dss+, you'll have the opportunity to lead a high-growth practice, shape the OE agenda for ANZ, and work with industry-leading clients. You'll join a fast-paced, supportive, mission-driven environment where you can:
· Influence strategy;
· Build and scale a practice;
· Work with exceptional global colleagues;
· Deliver meaningful, long-lasting impact for clients;
· Accelerate your own leadership and career trajectory;
· Do work you can be proud of — and see the impact firsthand.
dss+ is committed to a diverse workforce and believes this is essential to strengthen our company and drive sustainable growth. We are committed and driving accountability for growing dss+ through diversity. Diversity is an indispensable part of our organization's culture. The goal of our commitment to inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunity has not only become a competitive advantage for us but has attracted highly capable and talented employees to dss+.
