About the role:

As a key member of the Digital Engineering team, you will enhance and evolve mission-critical Customer and Reference platforms. Working within a technical community of practice, you'll adopt Agile methodologies to design, develop, and support solutions that improve customer experiences.

Your contribution will support platform autonomy, code quality, team collaboration, and delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable, secure cloud applications using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Build high-quality applications aligned with the Customer & Reference Platforms strategy.
  • Drive adoption of containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Lambda, and Cloud Run for portable, easy deployment.
  • Utilize serverless technologies to create resilient, low-maintenance applications.
  • Develop secure, high-performance RESTful APIs for seamless service integration.
  • Apply modern programming languages and best practices, including Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, Kotlin, and Python/Flask.
  • Implement strong API security with authentication, authorization, and data encryption.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud, containerization, and API technologies, recommending tools and methods to enhance efficiency.

Required skills and experience:

  • 7+ years of IT experience in complex technology environments.
  • Strong backend development skills with Java, Kotlin, or similar languages in cloud-native applications.
  • Expertise in cloud technologies, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and API design.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure services for containerization, networking, and storage.
  • Knowledge of Agile and project management methodologies.
  • Proficient in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and DevOps practices for automation.
  • Familiar with SQL/NoSQL databases, caching, and message brokers like Kafka and RabbitMQ.
  • Experienced in mentoring junior developers and enforcing best practices.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation is desirable.
  • Certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect/Developer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry.
